It was like I had found the mothership and I was flying back to my planet with my people. My fanclub of one, a three year old named Juniper, mimicked the way I was standing for the better part of an hour. The circus had not only come to town, but had become the town. I sat on the bench swing near the tea ceremony float watching the bike pedal-powered ferris wheel, thinking this would hopefully be the closest I'll ever be to floating in the Schuylkill River.

Once again, I have chosen to celebrate the dog days of summer by purchasing the July/August issues of The Believer on August 1st. There's something about the music compilation that always makes my summer complete. This year's cd is no exception. The mix featured artists I already know and love (Owen Pallett, Bryce Dessner) and new ones I am excited to learn more about (Warsaw Village Band, Sarah Kirkland Slider). They were all under the umbrella of contemporary classical music. I was struck by the fact that I just wanted to dance to every single piece. Someday off in the future, I hope to know as much about music to compile a cd like that. A girl's got to dream big.
